"Perry's grille delights in making mealtime unique"
by Pat Williams

"We had looked forward to having dinner with our friends, Wayne and Glenda, and for the evening we chose to eat at Perry's Grille in The Woodlands.

We were seated in a two-table area which housed a large wine closet. It was a pleasant place in which to visit as it was away from the live jazz music, as well as the major dining area.

Out waiter was a friendly young man who had just the right combination of sophistication and humor. Deciding what to eat was the most difficult chore of the evening; there are so many choices to be considered in a short time. The entrée selections are quite varied in every category: Black Snapper Etoufee ($21.95), Perry's Seven-Finger Pork Chop ($19.95), Roasted Lemon Chicken ($17.95) and Seafood Suga Rosa—fettucini with shrimp, scallops and crab—($21.95) are just a few examples of the mouth-watering items listed on the menu.

Glenda and I both selected the Steak Diane ($19.95); she chose the garden salad ($3.95) to accompany her meal, while I had the lettuce wedge ($2.95). Wayne decided on the Ribeye Steak ($22.95) and baked potato along with a cup of French Onion Soup ($3.95) to begin his meal. My husband Chuck ordered Veal Leon ($17.95) and a lettuce wedge.

Wayne reported his soup to be terrific, and the rest of us were happy with our crisp lettuce salads.

The lettuce wedges were plain lettuce with the buttermilk vinaigrette house dressing to top it; the garden salad was chopped, mixed greens with tomatoes, carrots and onions and dressed with a tangy dressing.

When Wayne's steak was brought to the table it looked and smelled appetizing, and he cleaned up every bite. Chuck's dish was three large pieces of breaded and pan-fried veal on a bed of seasoned fettucini. The portion was large enough to satisfy the hungriest of eaters.

The slices of Steak Diane were attractively placed around julienne vegetables which topped a deep-fried parry of fried sweet potato.

While the meat with its accompanying sauce was tender and tasty, I was disappointed to find the serving method of this dish changed; on a previous visit when I have this delicious items at Perry's it was surrounded by their eight vegetable medley which was the perfect accompaniment to the meat.

After perusing the dessert menu for some time, it was apparent none of us was able to eat a whole dessert, but we couldn't resist sharing the Chocolate Pecan Tart.

It was beautifully presented, but looked small; however, after each eating our share we all agreed it was the perfect bit of sweetness to finish off the meal. The tart had a nutty crust filled with a rich chocolate cream topped with pecans, and then a dip of rich chocolate ice cream was placed on top of the tart to finish it off.

As we concluded our meal, we noticed the restaurant, including the bar area, was full. Even on a weekday night reservations are highly recommended.

The live music was muted and enjoyable. The service was attentive, yet not intrusive. Parking was accessible in the shopping center parking area, and for convenience, valet parking is also available.

Perry's seems to delight in extending their services to make mealtime a unique experience."
