"New steakhouse in Sugar Land sweetens
life for Perry's diners"
by Dai Huynh
"Sugar Land is experiencing a boom in restaurants. Last month,
Baker St. Pub & Grill opened at the Sugar Land Town Center, followed
by the Ragin' Cajun at 16100 Kensington. Now, a 9,500-square-foot Perry's
Steakhouse & Grille has started grilling aged steaks at 2115 town
Square Place.
This is the seventh restaurant for founder Chris Perry, who also owns
Perry's Italian grille and Perry's Meat Market & Grille.
The Sugar Land location, with its earth tones, mirrors, contemporary
accents and a wine tower that holds 5,000 bottles, will be the prototype
for future restaurants, Perry said.
Speaking of wine, Perry is selling temperature-controlled wine lockers
for a one-time fee of $400. This is an interesting trend some steakhouses
have adopted, including the Capital Grille, which has a similar program
for an annual charge of $500. With the locker, diners get a 10 percent
price break on their vin.
At Perry's, customers will get a $5-$10 discount on wines that cost
$45-$60, or $15-$20 off a $100 bottle.
The Sugar Land store sold 25 lockers in the first week. Across town,
Perry's Steakhouse & Grille in The Woodlands has a waiting list
for the lockers, said Perry, who plans to make the lockers a feature
at the free-standing 12,000-square-foot steakhouse he's building in
the Champions area near FM 1960 West."
