"New crop of restaurants bring late night
activity to SL area"
"Over the past few months, a bevy of new restaurants have sprouted
in burgeoning Sugar Land Town Square (SLTS) which has established them
as one of the fastest growing entertainment hot spots in Houston in
recent years.
Fueling the growth of the nightlife scene in this hip 32-acre Town
Square is an increasing number of haute eateries and bars that are
bursting with activity after the dinner hour. In recent months, the
Town Square has welcomed popular restaurants including Baker St. Pub
and Grill and Perry's Steakhouse and Grille. These new dining destinations
join the list of well-established Town Square favorites: Café Express,
P.F. Changes and Japaneiro's Sushi Bistro and Latin Grill.
'Sugar Land's nightlife is rapidly growing and a big part of the cultural
scene here is happening in our Town Square,' said Wende Lewis, property
manager for Sugar Land Town Square Association. 'The close, centralized
location of our restaurants is what patrons look for when making dinner
plans. People appreciate the restaurant variety they can choose from,
as well as the convenience having unique after-dinner options within
a five-minute walk.'
While coats and ties are not required, casual chic attire complement
the delightful dining venues spread throughout Sugar Land's bustling
Town Square. Visitors will find menus created for individuals with
discerning palates that seek artful presentation, quality food, and
substantial wine lists. Extensive menus from casual to sophisticated
feature everything from beef tenderloin to ahi tuna sushi to old-fashioned
American burgers. In addition, each restaurant offers a direct view
of the pedestrian-friendly Town Square that is lined with shops and
easy parking.
Newcomers Baker St. Pub and Grill and Perry's Steakhouse and Grille
boast extensive lunch and dinner menus, live entertainment on weekends
and outside patio seating. Baker Street caters to the late night crowd
by opening nightly until 2 a.m. and also offer quests a unique all-day
happy hour on Sunday.
'By far, Baker Street Sugar Land has been our best Baker St. Pub and
Grill opening to date,' said Bob Allison, Vice President of Operations
for Hospitality USA. 'Our first few weeks of operations exceeded our
sales expectations by more that 50 percent.'
Winner of the Wine Spectator's 'Award of Excellence,' Perry's Steakhouse
and Grill boasts a 9,500 square-foot restaurant that offers a truly
memorable dining experience. Perry's accommodates approximately 325
people and features five private dining rooms along with a partially-covered,
air-conditioned/heated outdoor patio. HoustonRestaurant.com named Perry's
as 'Best Steakhouse' for their signature menu of prime aged beef, fresh
seafood, and handpicked vegetables.
'On an average Friday night, we experience a lot of activity that
includes dinner guests, as well as those guests who prefer the ambiance
of our cocktail lounge and bar separate from the dining area,' said
Chris Perry, owner of Perry's Steakhouse & Grille. 'With the opening
of our new patio, the location is a perfect venue for leisurely alfresco
dining and people-watching, too.'
Opening in October, Vineyard on the Square will make its debut as
Sugar Land's first wine bar. The cozy lounge and retail store will
feature approximately 30 wines by the glass, six varieties of wine
for sampling and a vast selection of affordable wines.
'We chose to open our first store in Sugar Land Town Square because
we love the concept behind the new breed of lifestyle centers that
feature pedestrian-style traffic and upper middle class clientele,'
said Kelly Harris, owner of Vineyard on the Square. 'There is nothing
in Sugar Land that exists today like our wine bar and we are excited
about bringing this concept to residents.'
